Diagnosis by imaging

Nuclear Medicine at HC Marbella’s Diagnostic Imaging Unit is based on PET/CT technology.

 

This revolution in diagnostic imaging combines the physiology from the PET scan and the anatomy information from a CT scan to provide a complete and comprehensive image of the disease. This detection system is an essential tool for diagnosing and staging patients with cancer and other diseases, including Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s.

 

PET/CT imaging can determine the status of a tumour with great precision, thus enabling doctors to switch to a more effective treatment approach, and sometimes even avoiding unnecessary surgery. It is 50% better at locating and determining the extent of the primary tumour and lesions of unknown origin.
