What is Oncofar?

Oncofar is a software program that was developed to optimise the actions of the processes that are related to the therapeutic chain, from prescription to administration.

Procedure

Once medication is prescribed, the nursing staff prepares it under the supervision of a drug specialist. The stability of drugs depends on the solvents involved and the volume, and some require that a special preparation procedure be followed. Once a medication is prepared, it must be administered in a specific way, with different premedication, in accordance with administration and safety protocols.

The pharmacist gets involved and checks for drug interactions with chemotherapy or other concurrent therapy and also checks for adverse reactions and communicates those to the appropriate regulatory bodies.

The software program consists of a database that requires constant updating and expanding, in which staff input the medications, the therapeutic schemes and the doses corresponding to each therapeutic scheme, the thinners used, incompatibilities and administration times. This allows all these aspects to be preset for each patient, and under certain conditions they can be modified.
