Professional excellence and continuous dedication.
Dr Casilda Llácer, a medical oncologist specialising in digestive and genitourinary tumours who has dedicated her career to both research and comprehensive patient care. Her focus is not only on cancer research, but also on the empathy and personalised care she offers to each of her patients.
Dr Llácer, a graduate in Medicine from the University of Granada and with multiple Masters degrees specialising in oncology, has dedicated her career to deepening her knowledge of digestive and genitourinary tumours, particularly focusing on prostate cancer. Her academic background is extensive and varied, including studies in molecular oncology and participation in advanced programmes such as the ESMO University Extension programme.
Apart from her academic excellence, what really distinguishes Dr Llácer is her focus on precision medicine, a key tool in modern oncology. “Thanks to research, we find safer and more precise medical treatments for patients. Precision medicine allows us to determine the nature of the tumour and design effective treatments based on the genomic and molecular characteristics of each patient’s tumour. This allows us to adopt personalised decisions that will enable us to improve the survival of our patients, which is our mission”.
Dr Llácer has been at the forefront of these advances, leading phase I clinical trials that seek to identify genomic alterations associated with the evolution of prostate cancer. Not only has her work helped to find new therapeutic avenues, but it has also provided hope for many patients facing a cancer diagnosis.
What patients appreciate most about Dr Llácer is her ability to combine her rigorous scientific approach with compassionate and close medical attention.
In such a complex and emotionally challenging environment as oncology, Dr Llácer stands out for her ability to listen, care and be there for each of her patients. “She is an oncologist who is always present, who has the time that each of her patients’ needs. One who works with empathy, who cares and who listens”
For her, oncology is more than understanding cancer at the molecular level; it is also about understanding the emotional and human needs of her patients.“Precision medicine allows us to create effective treatments according to the characteristics of the tumour”, she explains, “but it is essential that these decisions are made in a personalised and humane way, improving not only survival, but also the quality of life of our patients”.
