A Beacon of Hope and Professionalism
In the oncology world, where science and technology are advancing by leaps and bounds, Dr Rosa Villatoro Roldán not only stands out for her vast medical training and experience, but also for the profound humanity she imparts in each and every one of her actions. A graduate and doctor in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Granada, with a specialisation in Medical Oncology obtained at the prestigious San Cecilio University Hospital in Granada, Dr Villatoro has become a fundamental pillar in the treatment of cancer in Marbella
Her extensive educational background includes a Master’s degree in Biotechnology from the Institute of Biotechnology at the University of Granada, and her expertise ranges from immunotherapy to oncological surgery, specialising in genitourinary and renal tumours, as well as bladder and lung cancer, among others. However, what really sets Dr Villatoro apart is her patient-centred approach and his or her environment.
Dr Villatoro is not only devoted to providing the most advanced and effective treatment for her patients, but she also deeply values the psychosocial aspect of treatment. In her own words, ‘the success of treatment lies not only in the science, but in understanding and adapting it to the life and circumstances of each patient’. With an unwavering commitment to continuous training and research, she is currently working on a project on resilience in cancer patients, seeking to understand and strengthen patients’ ability to cope with cancer.
Her strong teamwork is another aspect of her work highlighted by her colleagues. In clinical sessions, Dr Villatoro is known for her ability to present and analyse each case in depth, always valuing the opinions of her colleagues and showing an openness and humility that is not common in other areas. This ability to listen and collaborate translates into comprehensive and personalised care that truly makes a difference in the lives of her patient.
The testimonials of those who have had the good fortune to be under her care speak for themselves. ‘Thanks to you I get up every day, I have to come to Marbella to say hello to you because you deserve all the best in the world’, says one of her patients, who has been fighting prostate cancer with bone metastasis for seven years now. Another patient describes her as ‘an angel from heaven’, praising not only her professionalism but also her human warmth: ‘In my case it didn’t go well but she did everything she could and more’.
The combination of responsibility, dynamism and empathy makes Dr Rosa Villatoro a key figure for her patients and colleagues. She considers the patient not only as a clinical case, but as a person with a history and a life that deserves respect and care.
In every visit, Dr Villatoro demonstrates that oncology is both science and humanity. Her work not only cures, but also inspires and accompanies. With professionals like her, the fight against cancer is filled with hope and dignity.
