Due to be frequency, sterility has been recognised by the World Health Organisation as a public health problem because an estimated 15 percent of couples of reproductive age have problems conceiving. Doctors Luis García and Juan Manuel Marín explain that “the main objective of the Fertility Centre at the HC Marbella Hospital is to provide the therapeutic solution which is the most efficient for the needs of the patient, as well as offering psychological and environmental assistance to attain success and achieve a pregnancy”.
Statistics show that 45 per cent of infertility problems have a feminine cause; another 45% are attributable to the man while the reasons for the remaining 10 per cent are known. Doctors say the problem may have increased because of the tendency to postpone having children and unhealthy lifestyle habits.
