HC Marbella International Hospital, a reference healthcare centre on the Costa del Sol, continues to strive to offer excellence in healthcare to its patients by incorporating a new 1,000 m2 building to its centre to expand its facilities, equipment and cutting-edge technology. The aim of this expansion is to provide the hospital with new beds and thus double its hospitalisation capacity.
The 14 exclusive rooms have been designed to ensure that patients and their companions enjoy the highest standards of comfort and convenience, as well as equipment that guarantees the best medical care. Additionally, the building features large openings that incorporate natural light and outdoor gardens into the daily life of patients and staff, offering a unique and differentiating hospital experience.
Another highlight is the new nursing station, with an expert, specialised team dedicated to patient care. Stringent with the processes and protocols that facilitate the provision of safe, fast and efficient care. Supported by equipment such as monodose medication trolleys that allow precise and organised management of drugs, and in advances such as the digitalisation of the transfusion process (with the registration and traceability of transfusions, patient and nurse sampling, as well as the uploading of vital signs via PDA). This work philosophy, which characterises each and every team at HC, has been rewarded and validated by the ISO, Q for Quality and ASCO certifications, awarded to the centre.
The new building is connected to the main hospital building, providing quick access to the surgical area, which has been enhanced with the incorporation of two endoscopy rooms for minimally invasive procedures. This physical proximity facilitates the implementation of circuits in which coordination between the various medical units is streamlined and in which patient comfort is a priority. It also expedites the immediate performance of radiological and laboratory diagnostic tests.
The architectural design of the building has been entrusted to Estudio Vázquez-Reina Elzo Arquitectos, whose close relationship with HC dates back more than a decade; this collaboration was awarded with the 2013 Malaga Architecture Prize.
The stamp of Vázquez-Reina Elzo Arquitectos, together with the rigorous work of Ferrovial Construcción, responsible for the execution of the project, has contributed to creating a unique environment where patients feel safe and confident that they will receive the highest quality care.
