I am a qualified orthopaedic surgeon with a special interest in general orthopaedic surgery. I gained my qualification as an orthopaedic specialist in Germany in 2003. During my time at the general orthopaedic department at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena, Germany, I gained an additional qualification in “Special Orthopaedic Surgery”. This is equivalent to a fellowship in joint replacement surgery.

 

I have extensive experience in the field of elective orthopaedics; I have independently performed more than 5500 procedures, consisting of more than 2500 hip and knee joint replacements (including revisions and using navigating systems) and more than 3000 minor procedures. During my time in the UK approximately 1550 of my hip and knee joint replacements were documented in the National Joint Registry (NJR). This data shows that my revision rates after one year were below national average; for knee replacements the revision rate was at 0,2% (national average 0,5%) and for hip replacement at 0,4% (national average 0,7%).

 

I have worked as Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in Salisbury and Runcorn for 6 years. I worked as a joint replacement surgeon at the American Hospital Dubai (UAE) between 2011 and 2012. Between 2012 and 2013 I worked for the Gibraltar Health Authority. From 2014 until 2018 I worked as Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the North East London NHS Treatment Centre, acting as Clinical Lead in Orthopaedics.

 

In April 2018 I started to work as deputy head of the Orthopaedic department (Leitender Oberarzt) at the Johanniter Hospital in Treuenbrietzen, Germany. During that time I underwent a medical advanced training in osteopathic procedures according to the recommendations of the German Medical Association and gained a Diploma in Osteopathia (D.Ä.O.)® of the Berlin Academy for Osteopathic Medicine.
