Common infectious diseases of the external and middle ear are: otitis externa, acute otitis media, otitis media with effusion, and chronic suppurative otitis media.

Hearing Loss

A decline in hearing is relatively common among older adults due to either otologic diseases or age-related hearing loss (presbycusis).There are three types of hearing impairment. Conductive hearing loss is caused by a blockage; sensorineural hearing loss is caused by an abnormality in the auditory nerve; mixed hearing loss is a combination of conductive and sensorineural hearing loss.

Vertigo
