A hair transplant involves removing hair in the form of follicular units from the occipital region of the head for subsequent transplantation in the areas that we want to cover. The advantage of this technique is that the hair taken from the donor area lacks the genes for baldness. It is healthy hair that grows naturally throughout the patient’s life in the region where it is transplanted.
The technique takes about 4 hours and is done under local anaesthesia and light sedation. It is completely painless and does not require hospitalization. The amount of hair transplanted depends on the natural density of the donor area, but in general over 7,000 strands are transplanted per session.
After carefully selecting each follicular unit, micro- and mini-grafts are obtained and then transplanted in receptor areas that have the same depth, slope and orientation as the native hair. This allows the original growth pattern of each treated area to be faithfully reproduced. The transplanted hair begins to grow gradually in a completely natural way after 3 months, resulting in a progressive change in appearance. The final result, which will be evident in about a year’s time, is hair that is natural, permanent, and does not need any kind of special care to maintain it.
Otoplasty is a surgical procedure for correcting prominent ears, where the outcome is ears whose proportion better matches the head.
Prominent ears are caused by excessive cartilage, while floppy ears are caused by weakness in the cartilage. Some people suffer from both excessive and weak cartilage.
Treatment consists of surgically reshaping or repositioning the cartilage. Otoplasties are performed on an outpatient basis.
The surgery can be performed in children and adults, though otoplasty in children should be delayed until around age 6, when the ear is more developed.
The incisions made to pin back the ears are carefully positioned in the crease behind the ears so they will not be visible. Once the ears have healed, it is almost impossible to distinguish them from non-operated ears.
Breast augmentation is performed to improve the appearance, size, and shape of female breasts. Women undergo breast augmentation for many different reasons. The breast augmentation procedure consists of inserting a silicone or saline solution implant inside the existing breast. Silicone implants are provided with a 15-year manufacturer guarantee and they are available in round or anatomical shapes and in high profile.
The placement of the implant can be underneath or on top of the pectoral muscle, and the incision to insert the implant can be below the nipple, at the inframammary crease or under the armpit.
A person’s voice has an important impact at social and professional levels. Voice is a gender cue, and it provides us with a unique tenor which is closely linked to our personality. However, voice tends to be an enemy for transgender women, undermining their well-being and confidence.
Facial Team and FemiVoz work together to help patients find their true voice. Through FemiVoz voice therapy and vocal surgery, we are able to offer a variety of solutions for modifying the last remaining distinguishing feature: YOUR VOICE.
Treatment is highly personalised and may include voice therapy sessions (using the Astudillo method) and vocal surgery.
