Symptoms of prostate cancer

Prostate cancers cause urinary obstruction and therefore difficulty in urination. As the benign prostate tissue grows, it causes urinary obstruction and difficulty in urination.

Prostate cancer occurs in the peripheral capsular zone of the prostate where urine does not flow and symptoms appear in advanced or metastatic stages.

Localised prostate cancer

▪ Prostate cancer usually does not cause symptoms.

▪ Prostate cancer occurs in the peripheral capsular zone of the prostate where urine does not flow and symptoms appear in advanced or metastatic stages.

Localised or advanced prostate cancer

▪ Diagnosis is based on symptoms.

▪ Advanced disease can compromise other organs or structures. The most common site of disease spread is the skeletal system, mainly the vertebrae of the lumbar spine. When these metastases are located in the long bones (femur, humerus, etc.) spontaneous or minimal trauma fractures may occur. Moreover, changes to organs or structures adjacent to the prostate may be responsible for the appearance of symptoms.
